Don’t panic, you didn’t miss a chapter! It’s just that DanMachi’s eleventh episode commenced a little… abruptly and unexpectedly, introducing us to Ares’ arrogance and thirst for power. This ludicrous God appeared out of nowhere to shake things up, and Hestia’s his victim. Yet, allow me to be more specific!
So, another God is added to DanMachi’s universe. The new entry is Ares and, oh Lord, he’s dumber than a rock. Luckily for him though, there’s Marius, his bright and logical consultant. But no matter how much he struggles to put some sense in Ares, the War God doesn’t seem to understand this simple equation: Soldier < Adventurer. Plus, a sneaky attack isn’t sneaky if you scream while doing it…
Meanwhile, we get to see Hestia going crazy because of her jealousness, as she realizes that almost every female wants to hit on her precious Bell. Yet, according to my humble opinion, Bell was too hard on her and could have turned her down more politely. Plus, they weren’t alone; the whole Familia been there and watching… We already know that Hestia has… extreme and intense reactions, so her child should have thought twice before speaking.
Moving on though, Hermes has a big plan and he’s building it up, with everyone being an unwitting pawn in his game. I’m curious to see how he’ll revenge Ares for capturing his beloved adventurer while trying to save Hestia. By the end, we’re left in a huge cliffhanger and I’m already champing for the continuation!
Hermes: Hermes is evil. Hermes is a puppet master. Hermes is a manipulative genius. Up to this point, I’m sure that he’s fulfilling Zeus will in order to gain something for himself and everyone seems to fall for his innocent looks. I’m not saying he’s bad, but surely he hides many things under the surface…
Jealousy: Hestia: the friendzoned Goddess ended up losing her mind. Poor Hestia sees Bell’s harem growing even bigger and struggles to handle it. So, she decided to semi-confess her feelings towards him, yet all she got was rejection. Her reaction was really cool, since she run away like crazy, ending up getting kidnapped. This girl can’t catch a break.
Ganesha: Ganesha is hilarious and every time he appears in the show, I can’t get enough of him. He’s a classic character, full of cliches and overused lines, yet his extreme self-centeredness never fails to be funny. Especially when he whispered his name, he made me laugh out PRETTY loudly. Oh please, we need more of him!
THE Tail: A fluffy tail never fails to make my day!
Ares: According to Greek Mythology, Ares is the Greek God of War. He’s one of the twelve Olympians, and son of Zeus and Hera. In the Iliad, it’s stated that he’s the most hateful God to Zeus. Ares had many lovers and many children. It’s said that Amazons are related to him. I’m curious to see his interactions with, well, everyone, during the rest of the series! It’s weird though, how a God who’s a war-machine is portrayed to be so goofy and clumsy.
Marius: Gaius Marius was a Roman general and statesman. Victor of the Cimbric and Jugurthine wars, he held the office of consul an unprecedented seven times during his career. He was also noted for his important reforms of Roman armies.
I can’t help but mention how much I enjoyed the part where Hestia was trying to ban sexual interactions, except if they are with your God/ Goddess. She tries her best to make Bell her own and she’s a cutie. She needs to accept that everyone wants to … ring the Bell and her life will be easier. I’m contented with this episodes’ route, even though it was a little bit predictable. I like the new characters, since they add up to the story. I hope to see more dark and intense arcs, like the previous one, and I can’t wait to find out Hermes plan. I can’t believe we’re almost in the eleventh episode, since I feel like a new and interesting story has just began! Please, DanMachi, we’ll need a third season after this.
Are you surprised that Haruhime is still a virgin? Did you laugh as much as I did with Ganesha and Hestia? And, most importantly, what do you think about Hermes’ game? Can’t wait to read your comments here, in MANGA.TOKYO!
