The magic of romance has started to seep in among the group. This week we have some early indications about who is fond of who. It was a sweet and joyful episode that I really loved. Our main group of characters have grown on me a lot along with the friendships they have and the way things will lead.
Japanese Original Title: 適度なレシピ
The Magic Photography Arts club is officially formed. Asagi;s affections for childhood friend Sho begin to surface more as Asagi decides to make a change about them. As Hitomi dives more into practicing magic, the positive effect it’s having on her intensifies because the reason is to make a certain someone happy.
All The Effort: There’s no better feeling than after you’ve poured all your effort into something. Especially when you do it to make someone happy. Watching Hitomi’s attempt to make her own star sand for the first time was so sweet. Then came the moment of giving the magical star sand to Yuta, it was the PERFECT SCENE. Breathtaking view in the background and listening to the effect of Yuta’s drawing on Hitomi, it was gold. I like the pacing Hitomi and Yuta are at right now and just want to see it grow.
Cute Asagi: Among the group, Asagi is the cutest, next to Hitomi. The focus on her this episode made me love her character more. Showing her reasoning for why she likes Sho was adorable. Asagi admitted she was only extra nice to Hitomi because she thought it would make her look good in front of Sho. It’s a brave thing to admit when you’re wrong. By the end of the episode, it looks like she will make the initiative to more forward with her feelings for Sho. Asagi and Sho are very similar in personality and genuinely like to help people; they’ll be good together.
Startastic Animation: I loved at the end of the episode, Yuta using Hitomi’s star sand and a sky of stars appear. Animation was EVERYTHING in this scene, god DAMN PRETTY!!. I felt the magical factor here big time.
Romance Pacing: The introduction of the romance element among the group this episode was perfect. I like how the series is handling this right now. Couldn’t be happier to be honest of where everyone is at. I’m really excited to see how things unfold from here on out.
Yuta’s Drawings: Hitomi hasn’t been able to see colors before seeing Yuta’s drawings. There is much mystery right now as to why.
Fortune Telling: This practice involving predictions of people’s futures and it originates back to 4000 BC. Fortune telling in practice involves numeracy and astrology and the use of tools such as tarot cards and tea leaves.
This week’s episode is by far my favorite. Slowly setting up the romance element for the main group was handled perfectly in my eyes, especially the separate focus on Asagi and Hitomi. Centering on Asagi’s feelings for Sho, the reasons why she liked him were cute and what made me root for her more was admitting her fault when she tried to look good in front of Sho. It was clear in the previous episodes, her slight hints of jealousy towards Hitomi whenever Asagi saw Sho with Hitomi. To have the reflection time on Asagi’s wrongfulness was sincere and gave her a new drive to change and not be introvert. I’m rooting for her and Hitomi big time.
Yuta and Hitomi being a ‘thing’ was this series biggest giveaway. I was not on board with the idea at the beginning seeing how Yuta treated Hitomi. As for the buildup, the connection this pair has with feeling their world is dull. Hitomi feels disconnection through her lacking sense ofcolour. Yuta has lost inspiration for his art and the spark is gone. To each other, their worlds are opening up with color again, and that is the reason why I can get behind them now.
This episode was the most magical so far.
Magic and love were the prime highlights in this week’s episode which made for an adorable watch along with some encouragement from hilarious Kohaku to push the others in the right direction. The pacing of things right now is perfect and everything in this episode was handled tenderly. I’M A HAPPY ROMANCE JUNKIE RIGHT NOW!!
