Well, that was a quick reconciliation between Hitomi and Asagi in this week’s episode. Until last week the pair were on the rocks over Sho asking out Hitomi. Things quickly returned to normal and also everyone turned their attention to the upcoming cultural festival. Hitomi and Kohaku displayed some fun magic they’d been working on. Also we see a bit into the reasoning why Hitomi up until now disliked magic.
Up and down this week, but anyway, let’s dive in!!
Japanese Original Title: 単色クレ
Hitomi and Asagi finally talk about their misunderstandings and find reconciliation. The cultural festival is just around the corner, and Kohaku and the others turn their sights there, coming up with an exhibit which involves Hitomi’s ability to enter into paintings. During a test run of this idea, Yuta finds a young lonely Hitomi.
Quick Reconciliation: After last week’s misunderstanding between Asagi and Hitomi, things were quickly resolved between the two. Haha, I was laughing at how quick the reconciliation was but I was glad the two made up. Hitomi took the initiative as Asagi looked like she was going to keep avoiding, worst case it would have been dragged out.
Glorious Magic: The element of magic was so cool in this week’s episode during the practice Hitomi and Kohaku had for their cultural fest exhibit. Transporting people into Yuta’s one drawing made for a vibrant, colorful sequence of watching everyone in this drawing – loved this moment in the episode.
Lonely Hitomi: Some light was shed on Hitomi’s reasoning for not liking magic. It’s all related to her mother not being able to use magic and Hitomi blaming herself for her mother leaving. It was in random timing as everyone in Yuta’s drawing was happy and seconds later everything became heavy. I think the timing was just off and random to choke this focus on Hitomi. Still the moment Yuta and Hitomi was cute.
This week’s episode was pretty laid back compared to the last three. My favorite highlight was when everyone was transported into Yuta’s drawing; the animation made it look very realistic and fun. Though what fell out of place was the focus on Hitomi. Everything turns black and Yuta finds a lonely young Hitomi sitting and drawing the same picture over and over, representing a disconnection from something. All is explained soon after regarding to Hitomi’s mother leaving her and why Hitomi has disliked magic up until now.
Despite the randomness to bring this issue into the episode, it was a moving scene how much it had played on Hitomi’s mind. I felt like Hitomi was able to let go some of the frustration. This episode was a bit of a mash. It’s still on my mind how this series will end, summarising the remaining unresolved feelings. Still it was a fine episode.
Everything was very chill in this episode which was nice, but as to where the series will go from here in resolving these up-in-the-air feelings, I’m not sure.
