If I remember correctly, Nene lost to Mangetsu in the previous episode. Let’s see who loses next.
Mangetsu seems to be having some of Nene’s memories that are flowing into her through the absorption of her magical powers. She’s having a conversation with Mangetsu as to why they’re actually fighting and how it all works – again. How much is there to explain. Also, Mangetsu makes the very important point that if the magic they’re all fighting for is so great, why don’t they all share it? The answer to which is: ‘Because someone says so’. Okay. Nene is back. She’s not dead, so they don’t die. Okay.
Nene is going mad at Mangetsu asking her things she doesn’t understand. They’re in class too. Her sisters show up and make her stop, also removing her from the scene. Are they triplets or not, I don’t understand. Kibou also comes along, and all the pending introductions have now taken place. Nene decides she’ll help Shingetsu and Mangetsu for some reason I don’t understand either.
In a flashback, we see Anna performing fire and ice wizardry tricks. She’s proud, and her sister is proud, and Shingetsu is proud, and everyone’s super pumped. Back to the present, Anna is being horrible to everyone as usual. Her mother is talking about the Magiaconatus and its power and oh god I have no idea what’s happening, I’m guessing she wants to win really badly? They’re also talking about some fugo magic stone, and how Anna is basically unable to defeat Shingetsu. She doesn’t take it very well and acts like a genuine super spoilt brat. I can’t stand her character.
Mangetsu and Shingetsu are visiting the token white haired shy character to check up on her and discuss things. Mangetsu takes the chance to cook ginger soup to help with her cold. It’s not very effective. Kuon explains that her sister is not ill, but cursed, and that she needs to become the master mage to help her. Mangetsu, seeing how everyone has personal reasons for participating in the Granbelm and she has none, she starts having second thoughts, to which Shingetsu goes all ‘I told you so’. I mean, why would people go through such a traumatizing experience unless they had good reasons?
Back to Anna, Shishui decides to dump her because Shingetsu is more powerful. Anna tries to act out but Shishui is not willing to take this crap anymore, and beats her to a pulp. Anna locks herself up and goes through some sort of depression. Her little sister asks Shingetsu for help but luckily she refuses. Instead she goes back home with Mangetsu to have free mediocre dinner. I mean, that’s what I’d probably do, even if I wasn’t asked to console some spoiled brat. They’re discussing something on Mangetsu’s kindness, but I’m not paying attention. They eat and they go on about it, but I’m almost falling asleep. During the whole scene, nothing happens. Apart from the part where Shingetsu decides to visit Anna. WHY!
She walks into her home to talk to Anna and she immediately attacks her. With a battleaxe. I mean, what else does she need to do for her mother to get her out of their million dollar house and to a therapist? As soon as she’s done trying to kill her, her mom kind of admits that she chose Shingetsu over her to inherit the family’s power to make Anna happy? Furthermore, Shingetsu admits that she’s been performing magic instead of Anna and letting her believe it was her so she can stop moaning all the damn time. A bit strange how Anna hadn’t noticed that she was unable to do it when Shingetsu was around but… okay. Okay. I hope she’s gonna shut up now. The only reason why she’s being so horrible is literally her massive ego. I don’t care. Just stop. Will she? Shingetsu keeps talking about her feelings but Anna is silent. Maybe that’s it? Please? Yeah. Yeah. That’s it.
At least we won’t have to deal with Anna’s BS for the rest of this show.
