Hello everyone (again) and welcome (again!) to the last episode of Granbelm, where we’ll finally find out if poor Mangetsu is gonna survive this hot mess she’s been born into. Spoiler alert – she won’t – we’re all gonna die anyway.
In something that looks like a sea of pink and purple, Shingetsu comes across the Magiaconatus and is ready to confront it, whatever that is. Suichou hasn’t given up yet though and it seems like there will be a lot more on-screen fighting before this show can finally be over. I mean… Suishou, girl, you have lost, it’s over, just let it go. Nobody likes you.
In what sounds like a meditative state, Shingetsu claims to be able to feel the whole world or whatever. I do wish this last episode was more of a cute recap of everything that happened and not another battle. But it is. Even though I’m pretty sure Shingetsu will win, the battle goes on for ages. Suishou just doesn’t want to call it a day and insists on fighting, again and again and again, in the sky, one the ground, in a cave, in the darkness, always screaming, please just die. Finally, in an unexpected plot twist, Suishou turns out to be an ‘impartial’ referee to the competition who has been winning for years and who hope that this time the win is actually going to allow her to ascend to becoming a mage instead. And then it rains. Lol what is happening, and why is there statues of the girls who lost everywhere? Then Mangetsu Shows up and has a prolonged pointless conversation with Suishou, being all emotional. Suishou kicks her out of the way, and Shingetsu jumps in to defend her. Some very shiny special effect follow, to some music that seems pretty important, then Shingetsu merges with Mangetsu and changes her form. Singetsu is still fighting against Suishou who just won’t shut up. It is painful. Naked Mangetsu shows up and disappears every few minutes. Then the title song plays and… more battling… Suishou finally loses. Shingetsu goes of to find the Magiaconatus. On her way there she meets Anna and other girls that explain to her that getting rid of all magic will also erase all memories of it existing. Shingetsu’s costume is, at this point, pretty awesome.
While Suishou is trying to convince her otherwise, Mangetsu also shows up in some sort of mirage and tells Shingetsu to not hesitate, and destroy all magic. Suishou keeps saying that destroying magic is a bad idea, but Shingetsu doesn’t care. She says that even if destroying it means she will have to roam the earth alone indefinitely, she still wants to do it. And so she does. Adding yet another layer to the costume, Shingetsu destroys magic.
Despite all that greatness, she still keeps going to school. How very lame. At least Mangetsu is also there, somehow.
Too much battling, but that was a decent ending, thankfully.
