The sixth episode of Given was the best we had so far. Things are finally happening and the story moves forward. Of course, everything occurred as slowly and smooth as always, yet the humorous scenes and the emotional confessions won me. So, let’s elaborate a little more!
After the music for the upcoming song is composed, it’s decided that Mafuyu will write the lyrics. He’s determined to try his best to create something splendid that will be dedicated to a lost love. Yeap, you got it all right! Mafuyu is eventually starting to open up and confess part of his feelings to Haruki. The boys seem to get along and numerous bonding scenes are present in this revealing episode.
Mafuyu’s old band members make a comeback, though no further explanations about his past are given. Surely we’ll get our answers sooner or later. Last but not least, the secondary characters, such as the basketball team, accompany the main heroes in an amazing way. Cheers to the supp team!
DAT laugh: At 8:15 of this episode, while Ritsuka was discussing with Akihiko, Akihiko bursts into an awkward laugh while his face remains almost vacuous. I and my friends watched this hilarious scene countless times. Episode Highlights doesn’t make justice to this; it’s the highlight of the whole series so far!
Episode Title: This episode is called Creep. The title is inspired by a song by Radiohead, which talks about a weird guy who doesn’t know where he belongs.
The production is doing an excellent job with the adaptation, which respects the author’s point of view. As time passes, the viewer gets attached with the characters, suffers along with them, and feels their happiness like it’s his own. The comical scenes -such as Akihiko’s laugh- are a welcome bones, making the anime more pleasant and enjoyable. The revelations about Mafuyu’s past give us a new perspective of his eccentric personality, and Ritsuka’s jealousy is full of sincerity, making him look real and humane. In conclusion, I’m contented with Given’s route and I’m looking forward to see how the troublesome relationship between the main characters will evolve.
I would like to know your opinion about this episode and see what you think about the confessional finale, as well as about the brilliant music. Can’t wait to read your comments here, in MANGA.TOKYO!
