Saikawa replacing Usaida was the best thing that could happen to Gakuen Babysitters (School Babysitters). To be honest my expectations were much higher for Saikawa’s part, but nevertheless, he still didn’t disappoint. The unexpected bond between Maria and Yuki is cute and weird at the same time.
Japanese Original Episode Title: その11
Usaida caught a cold and Saikawa comes to replace him. Despite the fact that he is capable of anything, he seems to be kind of nervous dealing with the kids, but thanks to the kids’ help, he managed to get through the day without any problems. Well, he scared the sh*t out of Usaida with a phone call that was misinterpreted and he got pee all over his suit, but other than that, everything went okay. The next day, Maria finds out that Yuki is not comfortable around kids and decides to go with her to the daycare room where Ryu and the babies are. The kids and Yuki get along well but she still can’t ignore all the little things they do, like be overly touchy and gross. Kirin tries to get to her good side by bringing her a ‘gift’ which ended up being bugs and Yuki just fainted from the shock. When she wakes up in the nurse’s office, Ryu tells her that she shouldn’t feel bad for not finding kids attractive and that everything will get better eventually if she sees them as individuals. The kids come to apologize and bring her flowers and then she rushes to reach her friend Maria, who she is so thankful for giving her the possibility to grow as a person.
Saikawa & Kotaro: Seriously, Kotaro is such a sweet potato. When he felt that Saikawa was kind of nervous and went next to him and just nodded (which meant ‘I have your back’), he was so cute. I loved how the same thing carried on for the whole day. This baby must become a meme.
We are in charge: The look in the babies’ eyes when Saikawa asks for their help and the way they interpret his word to ‘We are in charge’ made me laugh so much. They are absolutely adorable.
Like mother like daughter: When Usaida shows up almost half-dead and Midori goes to him feeling kind of frustrated and pouts she is JUST … UGH I CAN’T. And then she says his name and everything is so emotional. Anyways, when her mother comes in the next day feeling all jealous that her daughter’s first words included Usaida’s name and pouts as well is just lovely.
Boobs scene:I saw that coming from miles away. Poor Yuki, she must have felt so violated, especially when something like that happens in front of your crush. She must have been super embarrassed.
Themes & Trivia
The endcard on this episode: is Usaida but not in his baby version. He has exactly the same ignorant face, that damn brat. Also, did you know that he is only 23 years old? I think it is mentioned sometime in the first episodes but I thought he was much older than that.
The sad panda: When Usaida thinks that the babies might miss him when he is sick, we see Kotaro holding a book named ‘The Sad Panda’ and oh my, he is too young to be reading these kind of things… ‘The Sad Panda’ in the context of the doujinshi community refers to a hidden section of a certain hentai website where it has a huge collection of doujinshis and fanfics. The reason why it got that name it’s because the website has some exclusive content for registered users and when someone tries to access the site without the proper credentials the image of a sad panda is displayed. The more you know!
The babies are hide-and-seek masters, I mean seriously they didn’t even try… Kotato had the best spot, but I have to give it to them that the daycare room is very small with no many places to hide, so I guess they were doing the best they could! Also, the Kamitani mom is seriously the best mom ever. When she heard that Usaida was sick, she literally drops her son. In case you missed it, I am talking about this.
How cute can Kirin be? And HOW NICE CAN KOTARO BE? After the intermission break, we see a card with Usaida holding Midori and with these two playing hairdresser or something, I can’t they are just so damn cute. One last thing, why were they running outsisde the school area when they bumped into Usaida? Are they training for something or some kind of festival, because this is not normal…
Kami-sama, my romance is dead.
Yuki is so innocent and funny, I really like her and I hope that later on, she will be brave enough to confess to Ryu. I can’t believe that next week will be the last episode, I feel like we still have so many things to see but oh well, maybe a second season will happen as soon as there is more content to animate!
