Amalgam has begun to make their moves in one explosive episode! I was on the edge of my seat and my heart was dying over and over at how much was going on. Everyone was literally under attack but it was the best direction to take with this episode. Full Metal Panic Invisible Victory got right in there!!! Japanese Title: 大きな一パーセント
Plot
From last week, Invisible gets stuck right into the plot and my reaction the whole time was Awe.. Awe… AWE!!. Mithril, Sousuke, Kaname all come under attack from organization Amalgam, which went full boar with missiles and SENDING GIANT BEHEMOTH towards Mithril base. The relentless bombardment continues and Sousuke and Kaname are on the run while members of the public become caught in the crossfire. Towards the end, Mithril goes into strategic talk mode and things appear to be peachy really… haha kidding. It’s getting to game time!!
Episode Highlights
Bombardment: Amalgam are bringing their A game, having Mithril, Sousuke, and Kaname under constant attack…They’re pulling out all the stops. A,h I love it, it gets your adrenaline going. Car Chase: That car chase sequence with Kaname and Sousuke. I couldn’t take my eyes away for a second. This is what I had been waiting for and what Full Metal Panic is best at: the action factor. The animation in this sequence looked amazing, and it looked like there was a mixture of 2D or 3D animation was used but who cares. Top draw there. No Push Over Captain: I personally forget that Tessa is sixteen. This new animation makes her look 20. And to be honest, that Speck guy should know when to keep his trap shut. Highlighting the fact to just surrender and hand over their captain was not the way to go. Just settle for a business agreement. Speck was quaking in his boots when Tessa appeared. This moment reminded me why she may be young. Tessa is no pushover and will make the necessary decisions for her crew as captain. Woman Power!!!! Caught Innocent: The scene where Sousuke and Kaname had to keep running, leaving a civilian wounded in the process. That really got to me… I was like GO BACK!! I know you are on the run. But come on. Not Kaname’s Friends: Ahh, again this episode ended on a cliffhanger. Amalgam is going after Kaname’s friends and seeing Kyoko tied up...NOOOOOOO !!! Backing Music: In all the action sequences, it made me so happy to hear old instrument pieces used from the previous seasons. Those Full Metal Panic feels were flying everywhere inside of me. Epic Opening Theme: ‘Even If’ by Tanmaru Yamada. Oh my goodness, this was a smashing opening. Beautiful vocals and catchy beat; my new music obsession.
Themes and Trivia
Behemoth: This big ass mecha can do some real damage. Like Sousuke’s machine, Arbalest, Behemoth possesses the Lambda driver. It’s gravitation mechanism stops it giving away from its large mass weight. One of the most lethal arm slaves to pilot, it requires a lot of mental strength, as takes its toll on the pilot. Arbalest: This mecha is a one-of-a-kind machine. Sousuke comes into possession of it during the airplane hijacking in Season 1 and it was specifically tailored for only Sousuke to pilot. Arbalest was a prototype machine, one of the few possessing the Lambda driver. Sousuke has an interesting relationship with his AS machine, Arbalest computerized system. Lambda Driver: A special military feature on few arm slaves like Arbalest that gives machine and pilot the ability to turn imagination into a physical form. It responds to whatever emotions the pilot is feeling and using that as a weapon itself.
Comments
That episode again was not what I expected. That Full Metal Panic action factor shines right through, and it is what this series is best known for. I love this episode more than last week, HANDS DOWN. Everyone is literally under attack and the swapping from each scene was done well. I didn’t feel lost in what was occurring. Sousuke dedication to protecting Kaname rang so true throughout… so precious. Hey, I know I’m not the only one who has shipped this pair for years. The part that got me big time was the ending. Kyoko AMALGAM GOT HER!!. Noo.. myself was whining a lot after the episode ended. Oh, but that cliffhanger. If this series keeps amping it up every week, I don’t think my heart can take it. Action, music, suspense everything was just spot on. Why is this series only 12 episodes again?
