Last week’s episode was disappointing but this week’s Fairy Gone managed to redeem itself a little by giving some indication of how hard the series is trying right now to create a buildup for us. I could feel it during this episode. It’s been hit or misses so far with this series but I still remain hopeful that something good might come out of it all.
Japanese Original Title: フェロートラベラーマイリトルシ – ドッグ
With the end of the war celebrations approaching, new artificial fairies ready to deploy are compromised due to a civilian accident, causing the fairies to malfunction. The Ministry of fairies and Dorothea investigate further. Meanwhile Marlya and Clara chase down a man who in an auction bought a real Black Fairy Tome.
Fierce Women: Marlya and Clara make a good duo together especially dealing with that disgusting pig informant. These ladies know how to handle themselves. Also loved there was a little focus on Clara, giving both girls a chance to bond just a little. Recalling from last episode during Marlya’s celebration, her comrades mentioned that Director Nein saved some of them. We got to witness Nein saving Clara after losing her parents in the war, and that makes me want to learn more about the director.
Artificial Fairy: These artificial fairies are such an uninteresting element. I see them as nothing but wasted scrap. It’s understandable this world needs something to rely on since the unification war ended since owning a fairy is illegal.
Five Dukes: We saw Schwarz and Ray in the last episode not knowing much about either till now. This episode clarified the two are working together and belonged to a group five dukes, but they’re the only two left. Seems like they are against how currently things sit for reasons we don’t know. Least something was cleared up for Fairy Gone, haha.
Time Wasted: Marlya and Clara chasing their target for nearly a quarter of the episode was boring and made a huge deal of this agents’ client that it refused to reveal.
Hacked: It was purely ridiculous that nobody could figure out the artificial fairy was hacked. Again more wasted screen time on a issue that could have been rectified easily.
I’m finding a hard time connecting all the pieces of Fairy Gone’s plot together. At this point the only thing clear is the Mafia and that fairy scholar Damian with Veronica and Dorothea are desperate to find the Black Tome Fairy. Everything that is happening in the background is overloading me. Many character introductions are rushed and you’re not left a minute to digest what is going on.
This episode made me feel that Fairy Gone is trying to reach a buildup moment but it’s slowly getting there. I hate feeling overloaded with so much information because it makes it twice hard to get into a series. Fairy Gone is not doing its storytelling right and that’s going to bite this series in the ass if it cannot piece its plot together clearly in the next few episodes. I’m not expecting much at this point.
Waiting Game For A Actual Plot
Such a ‘interesting’ way to end the episode on ‘who the hell is Gilbert Warlock?’. Yeh I’m not all that excited for next week’s episode but this week was a tad better than the last one.
