What a bloody mess. Literally. Apparently, oni can be awakened even by the sight of blood on TV, the plot thickens with conspiracies, and Anzai has never in his entire life questioned his origins as a half- oni or how is it even possible for humans to have ‘le sexy time’ with oni.
Japanese Original Episode Title: プラン B
Oni that have watched the live broadcast or are near the area where the slashing occurred are going berserk. Lee tries to stop them without harming them as Tsukasa is being hunted down by one in her attempt to protect a young kid. Anzai finds her and saves her but Tsukasa gets injured and Anzai asks her to sedate him so he won’t transform, even if he is wearing a gas mask that would prevent him from doing so. Lee joins them and they all go together with Sawazaki to the bar where his team is accommodated. After being asked to stay there until the whole slashing incident mess is over, Tsukasa finds Anzai and tells him that he can develop blood tolerance, live longer, and become more powerful if he drinks blood daily, so she suggests that he drinks some of her blood every day in order to grow stronger. Meanwhile, the slasher aka Fifteen slashes Zero Seven because the organization knew she would be against ‘Plan B’. Fifteen is being killed by Zero Two, the mastermind behind all the incidents against oni, who happens to be Kikuhara, a member of the police force.
Anzai & Tsukasa: The relationship between the two is truly funny. Their whole surroundings are in chaos and they decide to sit down and chat about their relationship, about Anzai’s past, etc. When Tsukasa said ‘You might feel a pinch’ as she was sedating him, I honestly thought that she was retarded. A guy that breaks through windows to save you, is a cop, has been recently through hell in order to get back to his human senses and who is constantly sedating himself to survive ‘would feel a small pinch’? What the hell is wrong with you, woman.
Hans Lee is such a cool dude: So easy going, chill, and reasonable, despite all the other characters in the show. He is kind enough to care and help those in need, he just follows around people he likes, and he goes along with whatever he is being told. He even helps them to cook for f*cks sake!
Kikuhara aka Zero Two: So Kikuhara (who is by the way voiced by the amazingly awesome Sakurai Takahiro) is a member of the police force that helps them with the investigations but at the same time he is behind all the anti-oni attacks. An interesting character that is probably psychotic and non-human as well.
Juliana Lloyd: She mentions that she is half American and half Russian, hence her western looks. But her name tells otherwise. Her last name ‘Lloyd’ is a very famous surname that could be described as both Old Welsh and Medieval English. It derives from the pre 7th-century word ‘llwyd’ meaning literally ‘grey.’ Back in the days, it used to describe a grey-haired person at a time when few lived to be old, or perhaps a holy man, one who habitually wore grey garments. The more you know! ★
‘Plan B’ was supposed to be a plan that would make the existence of oni go public or was it just a grudge hold against the weather girl from Fifteen because he was rejected? That little piece of information at the end of the episode made me utterly confused.
So Anzai is in his mid-20s or so and he never questioned before how the hell he was conceived? That part of the plot is ridiculous from every point of view. Even if the anime is not faithful to the dialogues and the actual manga plot, this was really stupid. Also, the orphanage that both Anzai and Lee grew up in, was giving every single kid a different kind of accessory with a black long cross on it? So much fashion, style, and fabulousness for an orphanage. Plus, probably Anzai was held in a cage because the amount of information that he lacks for his own species compared to the shit that Lee knows is just absurd. Or maybe Lee found out about all this after he left the orphanage?
The plot starts to look promising and even though I am a bit embarrassed to admit it: I can’t wait to see what will happen next. The awkwardness between Anzai and Tsukasa grows stronger and stronger in every scene but it’s kind of endearing to root for them and seeing them together as a couple.
