Oh my goodness… we are here at the last episode already. This is nuts. I was a little scared of how this finale would turn out since this whole time, Citrus has dragged out from half way to have Mei and Yuzu confess to each other. Well, we got what we asked for but was it too subtle for a finale ending?
The finale of Citrus is here and it’s confession time. The meddling twins, right until the end, continue to stand in Mei and Yuzu’s way. Mei is supposed to be dating Sara, while Yuzu finally wakes up to the fact. It’s now or never to profess her feelings. One last hurdle to get over before we get to our bittersweet ending. That is the only thing that awaits us.
Sister Nina: Is it just me or did Nina act like she had her own crush on her own little sister half the time? Too sisterly sisters for my liking.
Sara The Better Sister: Sara surprised me in not feeling any resentment towards either Yuzu or Mei and what also surprised me was the fact she thought herself the destined push and that the pair needed to confess their true feelings. Sara was content with this and here I was assuming she’d be all selfish whining to Nina.
The Chase Scene: If you can imagine me, I was laughing my head off. Yuzu just blurted all that she felt, FINALLY!! It was hilarious that Mei just kept running.
Kiss The Teddy: This was the finale episode and is the only time I got to see Mei lost for words practically. Yuzu’s kiss was a little off guard but it was really cute placing the little teddy on Yuzu’s lips. Mei is quite cute herself when she blushes. The confession part itself was satisfying. I do wish Mei had been the one running after Yuzu, would have been way more dramatic.
Double Kiss: Along with our satisfying enough confession. Not saying it was super stellar, but we got to see Yuzu and Mei kiss twice. Not just little pecks.
Mei… DATE: Oh, this part made me feel the awkwardness. Mei blurting out to try dating. You know… sisters… dating. You get the awkward nature of it all now. Oh my lord… I should have been happy that they’re together….. But a part of me was not sure about all this.
Japanese Shrines: Shrines are located all over Japan and are one of the hotspots for tourists to visit. They’re very sacred places, and each shrine since ancient times has its own each Kami, which means ‘god’ in Japanese. When visiting a Japanese shrine, people typically offer up a prayer and cleanse their hands and mouth at the water basin.
Kyoto: Kyoto is known as one of the most peaceful places to live in Japan. It is known for its war culture dating back to WWII and as the origin of the traditional tea ceremonies.
Well, folks, here we are at the end of Citrus. It started out so sweet and ended bittersweet. Was this confession we finally got worth it? Half worth it. I craved for Mei to chase after Yuzu, preaching her feelings of love. Mei is a confusing individual in her actions right up until the end. The girl’s got issues that were slowly revealed but her guard never let down, until Yuzu confessed her feelings.
Citrus, you were better than that Netsuzou Trap. The end was on a good note, honestly. Mei clammed up ¾ into the series, but in the end, I heard one I love you out of her. That satisfies my heart a little.
My excitement for Yuzu and Mei’s confession whittled out till I got to see the finale. All my excitement had disappeared. TOOK LONG ENOUGH!! But our girls got to together in the end. This was a better yuri adaptation than most. But tell me folks in the comments. We need to hear your thoughts on the Citrus finale. Were you satisfied with it? Was it a strong or weak ending? A full Citrus review will come from me soon enough covering my full feelings but I’m already for spring 2018 anime.
