Angelica is a proud member of our otaku writer family. So proud in fact that when asked for a short bio she told us to just write, 'Any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental.'
And the tea has been spilled. In Episode 6 of Blue Exorcist -Kyoto Impure King Arc- (Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-Hen) Yukio finishes the letter where we get to know the depth of the relationship of Shiro and Tatsuma. Mamushi, really shocked, discovered that she had been played by Todo, and we finally know what the Myoda sect’s big secret is.
Japanese Title: 綿裏包針
As Yukio keeps on reading the letter, we’re able to see Shiro and Tatsuma’s interaction in the past. Apparently Shiro was on a hunt for Kurikara for it was to be used to kill a child, which could not be other than Rin. Tatsuma saving Shiro plus Shiro’s contributions to the sect, forged a bond trust between them. Tastuma was left in awe by Shiro and meeting him was probably one of the reasons why he then makes the decision of working with the Cross and turning Myo-O Dharani members into exorcists as well.
If you were one of the people who wondered why only one person was allowed in the big secret club, now you have your answer, and I have to say, I was totally not expecting that. Karura had been helping them all along and doing so in exchange of secrets that are the source of “lies and mistrust”, for this demon sure liked its share of drama.
Tatsuma proved to be even more of a badass than what we originally thought and is really a shame that he died. Or did he not? Surely surviving a knife through the throat is hard, but one can only hope. But if he is dead, Mamushi being the only one who really knows what went down left me with a really bad feeling. The moment Tatsuma refused to tell Juzo what happened, claiming that Mamushi will explain it all, made me strongly believe that she will try to save her own ass by lying.
Girl better not.
What we do know for sure so far is that this Impure King looks like vomit and that alone is terrifying in itself. We also know that Saburota Todo is one formidable enemy, and as smart as he is revolting, he has made everyone dance to his tune. We have found out how he gets his power, and now that he’s looking young and fresh after eating Karura, would it be crazy to assume he also plans to make the Impure King a main course for even more power?
The episode ends as Yukio finishes the letter where Tatsuma tries to convince Rin to help defeat the Impure King using Kurikara by guilt tripping him, telling him how good and charitable Shiro, Rin’s father, was. I’m pretty sure Rin will do it, because that’s just who he is, however he will first have to avoid being killed since in the in the next episode’s preview we see Mephistos saying Rin has been sentenced to death.
So yes, this is definitely getting interesting. Will the next one be the episode where Rin proves everyone he’s good and that he can definitely do more to help than not? Will Mamushi be a snake until the end (no pun intended)? Is Todo planning on to eat everyone? Oh! What if he’s planning on eating Rin? …Ugh, I guess really didn’t need that picture in my head.
