Winter 2019 Anime: Official Twitter Hashtags & Pages
2018 is almost out, guys and girls, and that means that another anime year is ready to take its place.
As the title implied, in this episode of Blue Exorcist we were able to see Rin shining bright while he put end for once and for all to the fungus gooey demon with the help of a no-nonsense Ucchusma, the demon associated with Myo-o Dharani.
Japanese Original Episode Title:光輝燦然
I’m going to name Shiemi the queen of delayed reactions. She always takes really long to do what she’s supposed to from the beginning. Do you know how much time we would have saved if she had just gotten up there and pulled Kamiki a bit earlier? Is Suguro’s dad alive after all that time there? I had even forgotten him!
Although Todo didn’t possess Yukio, he kept on being a bother until the end and they made the mistake of leaving him there. I mean, they could have just swept him with a broom or something, scatter him all around, I don’t know. I understand he wasn’t the immediate threat here, but I’m pretty sure he’ll cause more chaos than the Impure King could ever hope to do himself.
On that note, seemingly, this demon Ucchusma got really tired of this mess and these people just messing around without really accomplishing anything even after he aided everyone with his flames, and decided to go there himself to do some cleaning. And I’m really happy that Rin didn’t end up murdering everyone right there. Everyone loving him and giving him the praise he deserves was beautiful, but of course, Yukio had to come and make it all awkward.
Here I was naïve enough to believe he had all his issues sorted out, but apparently what we saw back in episode 9, with him displaying what looks like demonic power, they got worse. So of course the first thing to do was to go and punch his brother right in the face after the latter had just saved everyone. Asshole.
We got to see he does have demonic powers, therefore, if jealousy is his real problem, I hope he becomes the most demonic of them all. If he wants to be like his brother so much, hope he has so much power and little control over it he goes on a rampage and then feels guilty about it (?). But seriously, now we know Rin’s impulsiveness runs in the family.
Ucchusma’s cleaning services: They say that if you want things done right you have to do them yourself. I’m pretty sure Ucchusma heard this somewhere when he became so tired of seeing everyone being inefficient as hell and went there to solve things. And he wasn’t joking. He didn’t even ask for permission, he was like “This is what we’re doing, you peasant” got into Rin’s sword and that was that.
On the other hand, Rin’s performance in this was definitely important. If he would have continued to hesitate, not even Ucchusma could have saved him. When it seemed like everyone had to die, Rin getting in total control of his flames was the best.
Ucchusma the deity: As many demons in this anime, Ucchusna is an actual mythical deity, if that makes any sense. There are different versions to his story but they all agree on one thing: One way or the other, Ucchusma used to lead an uncontrolled life of excess and because of it was punished or purified, depending on the source. Now he has become responsible for keeping things under control and clean. In Japan, you can find an image of him in bathrooms which is hilarious to me, but it really is because they believe Ucchusma will keep the placed purified.
At the end it wasn’t much of a fight between Rin and the Impure King and more like an extermination job. When you see a cockroach and you’re scared for your life because of how disgusting it is, but it didn’t really cause you any harm yet except that is contaminating everything with its filthy presence. Then you gather the courage to kill it and feel victorious and grossed out. So I’m a bit disappointed in that aspect.
And Mephistos. This guy has a really nice psycho laugh, very natural and creepy. We still don’t know what this guy is really up to but by his final words it might have to do something with what Ucchusma told Rin about having to decide between one of his natures eventually. Or maybe dude is really only enjoying the show, which is very evil in itself.
As far as we could tell from the preview, everyone is finally resting. What is that Rin has to let Yukio know? Either way, I hope Rin is receiving the treatment he deserves and is finally being accepted as part of the good guys. The same way, Yukio better reflect on his behavior and stop his rage.
See you next here MANGA.TOKYO for the next episode which is, sadly, the last.
