Winter 2019 Anime: Official Twitter Hashtags & Pages
2018 is almost out, guys and girls, and that means that another anime year is ready to take its place.
Sad outcomes, surprising revelations, and funny moments – these things filled the latest episode of Black Clover. It wasn’t as crazy cool as the previous one, and I honestly thought there were a few things that could’ve been done better, but it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t the least bit enjoyable. Actually, one of the surprises caught my interest!
Japanese Title: 諦めの悪い男
Despite Luck and Magna’s all-out attack last week, the fight against Vetto unfortunately still went on, as he was able to survive their powerful combo. So Asta and Kiato continued the fight, although the difference in power was clear as day. Meanwhile, the other members of the Eye of the Midnight Sun started hunting down the other Black Bulls. Gauche, Grey and Charmy had to face off against two of them, in fact!
Knocked out: Hecking hack!! I was at least hoping Luck and Magna got to deal a serious wound against Vetto if they couldn’t defeat him, as I mentioned in my . However, what kind of cheater is that guy!! Despite clearly getting hit in the gut, Vetto was still able to move his arms and used his magic as a shield! It made me feel incredibly bad for the fire and lightning duo; all that effort and determination, just to see their opponent without a single scratch? How unfair!
Gauche, Grey + Charmy: I was surprised when Gauche had a hard time beating that chain guy. That guy looked like a small fry minion, but I forgot that even the minions of that terrorist group are powerful mages. Fortunately, it became a good chance for Gauche to remember , making him work together with his teammates! Which resulted in a chance for us to discover what else Grey can do with her magic aside from transforming herself, especially when they were trapped by the vines guy! It was also a good thing that they got to think of a way to wake Charmy up, because that girl is really insanely powerful! When it really comes to food, she’ll even wake up from a magical slumber and beat up anyone that tries to steal it from her! It’s just worrying now since Charmy’s the only one with her mana still intact. I hope they don’t run into any more opponents unnecessarily.
Grey’s true form: The revelation that caught my interest: the big steamy guy we normally saw isn’t the true Grey at all! She really is the blue-haired girl in the opening sequence, and what a cutie she is! Her embarrassment made me wonder why she started not wanting her real self to be seen when she’s that cute. What’s sure, though, is that she seemed quite energetic when in disguise, so we know she’s at least comfortable when she’s not in her own skin. I want to see if she can act like that when she’s herself, too! It’ll be totally cute, especially since she’s already 24 years old, but still able to act like that. Then again, she also worries a lot despite being one of the oldest in their squad.
Asta & Kiato vs. Vetto: Yikes! The duo who were supposed to be reinforcements ended up getting pummeled a lot as well. Vetto even had the luxury to preach to Asta for a bit, and even if it was with animosity, I actually thought it was a bit true. Asta’s attitude of never giving up is indeed a great thing, but if it’s paired with his recklessness, he’ll just end up getting killed. Even if his anti-magic weapons can deal Vetto some damage, they’d still be useless if not used properly! Now, I would say that he should start planning before attacking, but I don’t think that will work properly this time. Since Vetto was able to read their ki and was incredibly fast to boot, he’d just end up intercepting whatever plans they have! It’s a good thing Noelle and Kahono arrived at the scene as well, or else the two boys would’ve been in a dead end – or worse, literally dead!
– Most of you are probably already familiar with this comedic element! Sometimes, characters who are sleeping have a snot bubble inflating or deflating while they breathe or snore. Sometimes this snot bubble pops when they wake up, or is even deliberately popped to forcibly wake them.
Asta’s swords – Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is the first time Asta’s swords have been named, huh? By the enemy, too! Their names are very fitting for what they do. The Demon-Slayer Sword cuts through any kind of magic, while the Demon-Dwelling Sword is the one who can absorb magic from allies!
I regret to say that I didn’t enjoy this episode quite as much as the last one. Sure, the story was getting interesting, and the part that focused on the other Black Bulls was very entertaining. However, most of the execution of the visuals were poor, especially during the latter part with Asta and Kiato’s battle! To think it was starting to be okay the past few weeks, but here we are again. So much potential of this week’s story was wasted because the art couldn’t quite convey it better, or because it was getting too distracting. I hope this is just a hiccup and that the art will become better again starting next week, more so with the crucial scenes.
With four vs. one, will the Black Bulls/Temple Mages team finally have an advantage over Vetto? Will they continue to have hope, or give in to despair? I’m looking forward to finding out how they’ll defeat that cheater!
