Noelle’s breakthrough: Remember when Noelle got a new spell because she became super determined to protect the villagers in Saussy? It just warms my heart that this latest spell was created because she became determined to help out her Black Bulls family! It wasn’t even to prove herself to them. These two instances that allowed her powers to grow proved how selfless this girl is! That’s why I was incredibly touched that her teammates went out of their way to show their support of her. It made her finally realize that there are people who acknowledge her, and she deserves it!
Petite Clover: This episode’s omake cracked me up so much! If the circumstances allowed it, I could really imagine Julius watching Kaho’s live idol performance in canon just to see her magic! Making him, THE Wizard King, a fanboy was a bonus treat! I just loved it!
Themes & Trivia
Idol: As much as Kahono’s dream of becoming an idol is great, I hope the idol industry in the Clover Kingdom is more fun and carefree. That’s because in Japan, even if it can give chances to completely normal people to become famous, being an idol requires a lot of hard work and sacrifices. And I mean a lot.
Fireworks: Even though it’s not set in Japan, it’s amazing how they still got to sneak in a bit of Japan’s culture in their summer outing by letting Magna and Luck set off some fireworks to celebrate Noelle’s achievement! You see, summers in Japan always include firework shows, accompanied by food and game stalls, and people dressed in yukata. It’s like a festival!
I enjoyed this episode so much that it felt like it ended so fast! I was really absorbed by the story! Plus, even if it’s overused, I’m still terribly weak for friends becoming your family and getting strength from them and whatnot. And I love how this episode handled it, more so when you remember that they’re all outcasts, and outcasts stick together! (Except for Gordon, who they left out. I’m still upset.)
Another thing I’m glad for was that the art and animation were consistent this time! I didn’t really notice any distracting ones since it all just passed by in a blink, which is a great thing! I hope the remaining episodes will be just as consistent, or even better!
Friends that become family
Their transport is all set! All that leaves is for the Black Bulls to head to the Underwater Temple! I wonder what awaits them there. Is it really scarier and more dangerous than the dungeon they competed for with the Diamond Kingdom?
