We probably can’t count on our hands the number of series that focus on friendship, especially in the shounen genre! But each one has a distinct and notable way of leaving a mark on hearts. Black Clover shows in this episode that it’s no exception, to me at least! I hope it’s the same way for you guys, too!
Japanese Original Episode Title: 仲間
The race to the treasure room between the Golden Dawn and Black Bulls teams is still ongoing, even though the number one squad already made it to the door! That’s because the Diamond Kingdom mages have been getting in their way, and they’re not just pesky! Strong foes such as them truly couldn’t be fought alone. You need the help of ever-dependable teammates!
Friends: BRB, I’m bawling my heart out!!! Seeing baby Asta and Yuno again filled me with joy, even more so because they were talking about protecting their friends, who they should treat like family! Then the part where they were both remembering that conversation as they were saving their comrades, calling them their friends, I was so blown away! I’m so glad they carried that principle even as they grew older, especially Yuno since Asta was the one who taught him that, realizing he still remembered and believed it…I just love these two boys and their partnership so much! It certainly makes them all the more valuable assets to their respective teams! As the proverb said, ‘Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.’
For mom: Oof, poor Luck! The only time his mother showed him love and appreciation was when he won against that noble. Other than that, she was abusive when she could instead show her son compassion for his smiling disorder! Even so, she was the only one he had. So when she died, he wanted to make it up to her by winning and winning and winning! That’s why he was always looking for a fight! He wanted her to be pleased with him again by offering his wins to her, though she was already dead. I thought he was just always out to get blood for the thrill of it, but deep inside, Luck’s an emotionally scarred boy, huh? He thought that he was all alone since his mother left him and he was treated as an outcast by the rest. I’m so glad Asta was there to show him that he’s got friends to back him up! Well actually, we should thank Nero first because he pointed them in his direction! At least the bird knows his priorities! Once Luck realized that he’s not alone, that the other Black Bulls members are his friends, he had such a good smile on his face! My tears!!
Black Bulls vs. Lotus: Luck would’ve seriously lost if his teammates hadn’t arrived! And he would’ve kept on losing if he didn’t realize that they can do better together! Once it hit him, he seemed to have sobered up, managing to think of a strategy to face Lotus properly, without even smiling! Initially, I was nervous that not even the power of teamwork could win against a tough opponent. I mean, just the fact that they were surrounded by lots of smoke… I would’ve fainted if I was there! We can’t even handle pollution! But, it looks like not having an ounce of mana made Asta even more useful after all! He became their trump card! I was also surprised that Noelle got to control her magic! Thanks to her wand and awesome ability to detect Lotus’ mana, she managed to get Asta straight to him! Seeing their enemy registering what happened a bit late made me laugh! He totally wasn’t expecting that, huh? Even I wasn’t expecting that they’d work that well since it’s their first time partnering up!
