The epic fights and intense monologues have begun! Get ready for extreme badass-ery, plot twists, and probably a lot of death…
Japanese Original Episode Title: 雷槍
The Armored Titan begins climbing up the wall towards the Survey Corps when at the same time the Beast Titan makes all the two and three meters Titans within Wall Maria rush towards the wall, targeting the horses to cut off the Scouts’ escape route. Erwin sends three squads to protect the horses, while the Levi and Hange squads prepare to fight the Armored Titan utilizing Thunder Spears. He then commands Levi to go and protect the horses with the rest but also start targeting the Beast Titan. As the Armored Titan reaches the top of the wall, encountering Erwin, Eren suddenly transforms into his Titan form and starts running towards the center of Shiganshina. Reiner takes the bait and follows him, abandoning his initial target (the horses). Eren and Reiner engage into one-on-one combat where Eren’s training of hardening his hands pays off as he manages to temporarily weaken the Armored Titan. Hange and her squad then attack him with Thunder Spears, aiming for his eyes and then the nap of the neck. Their initial attack weakens the Titan, so they follow up with a barrage of the spears to finish the Armored Titan.
Levi is such a smartass: While Erwin is trying to be a good Commander and is thinking very carefully how he will send out his troops, Levi acts like a smartass and tells him that he took his time figuring out what to do and that he could actually have had breakfast in the meantime. Such a little shit but you can’t help but love him. Also, the way he moves in the battlefield blows my mind every time.
How badass can Erwin be? I don’t know what else to say about this character anymore. He is the epitome of a badass honorable Commander. His monologue was absolutely amazing, especially the part where he talks about him sitting on a pile of corpses. Imagine what must be going through his brain every day of his life, the remorse and guilt about his decisions and the casualties they brought upon his team. That’s why he is so desperate for results and strives to give hope to people about humanity’s future. Even when Reiner climbs at the top of the Wall and is right next to him, he doesn’t even flinch and looks at him straight in the eyes, while he knows that he can just squash him in seconds. And even then he thinks about his plan and the battlefield. He is so driven to save humanity that he even thought of running to Eren’s house to check the basement in order to see what answers lie in there before he dies. So much respect for him.
Reiner is pooping his pants: Before mentioning the fact that Reiner is starting to get very scared of his previous comrades, I have to say that the animation sequence of Hange and Mikasa flying around using their ODM gear in order to ‘thunder spear’ Reiner in the eyes was spectacular. This show knows how to make body movements during fights look so great. Now that this is out of the way, Reiner is not having a good day. I don’t think he died, he is probably going to save himself by transferring his consciousness to his ass or something, I refuse to accept that he will go down so easily.

Thunder Spears: A weapon developed to combat the stout defense of the Armored Titan using technology kept secret by the Interior Police. Though challenging to wield, it can deliver a concentrated blow comparable to a strike of lightning.
The Titans in this episode killed me. I mean what the hell is this pose? Even when Levi was having a moment, you can see the Titans running like fools in the background, having the time of their lives.
Also, Erwin has way too many death flags at this point, so I am really starting to get worried that he might die very soon. If this happens, I will be devastated.
Last thing, this shot of Reiner is the funniest thing I have seen lately. It will definitely become a meme.
‘And upon a mountain of their corpses, I now stand.’
No words can describe my anticipation for the battle between Levi and the Beast Titan. It’s going to be so satisfying seeing that monstrosity slaughtered by Levi’s blade, and I am sure it’s going to be Levi, because come on, he is the most badass fighter out there.
