Well this episode was not that bad. I was waiting for it to be very slow paced and uneventful with flashbacks about Eren, Armin and Mikasa’s past but yeah not half bad. Quick decisions were made and we didn’t have to deal with much fillers.
Japanese Original Episode Title: “Ōmono” (迫う者)
The Colossal’s body hits the ground releasing a great amount of heat and steam, injuring all the Scouts team that was located near the Wall and providing cover for the Armoured Titan while he was removing Eren from his Titan form. We then see Bertholdt with Ymir in his hands using the Maneuver Gear to get on the Armoured who starts running to the direction of Wall Maria to get the hell out of there.
Later on we see Commander PIXISU and Erwin along with the military police forces being informed by Potato Girl and Hannes’s subordinates about the battle that occurred and all the latest hot news about who’s a Titan and who’s not and how they captured Eren (again) and Ymir and run away. Then we are redirected to the Wall where Armin watches over the unconscious Mikasa. We then see a flashback/dream of Mikasa about the past when they were young and Eren was trying to fight off some bullies that stole Armin’s bread. She wakes up and starts asking questions about what happen while realising that there is not much to do to help the situation. Hannes then comes in, gives them a very motivational speech and they soon feel ready to kick some ass.
After a while, Erwin arrives with his team and the Military police. Hange heavily injured but now awake requests a map and starts sharing her plan to retrieve Eren and Ymir before it’s too late. Their goal soon becomes clear and they start rushing to get to forest where they think that Reiner and Bertholdt are resting until nightfall. Eren is then shown waking up on the branches of a tree next to Ymir, with no hands, since they are in the process of regenerating. Reiner and Bertholdt are nearby watching them and the episode ends with Erwin and the gang departing for the rescue operation.
Go home Pixis, you’re drunk: He is an old drunk fool but I will always love the way they pronounce his name and the fact that he is super badass. He is the kind of awesome drunk grandfather that everyone wants to have. Who can forget his amazing line from the first season of Attack on Titan in episode 10 where he says: “I wouldn’t mind being eaten, as long as it was by a scorchingly hot lady Titan.”
Intense ‘eating nutritious crackers’ scene: What’s the deal with Mikasa and Armin eating so intensely those crackers… It had me laughing for a bit. It also reminded me of two things: Firstly, the crackers reminded me of Lembas bread from Lord of the Rings, nutritious and with no good taste, hehe. And secondly, for those who have watched Death Note, remember the scene of Light being all genius and eating the potato chips? I got the same vibes from this scene for some reason…
Themes & Trivia
Potato Girl: And since we are talking about potato chips, did you know that Sasha aka Potato Girl was supposed to die at the end of Chapter 36 in the manga? But apparently her planned death was so brutal that had Isayama’s editor crying in the bathroom after reading the storyboard which convinced him to rewrite the chapter and spare her life.
The episode was good. I am happy that they didn’t drag it that much and the rescue plan was quickly established with the guys taking action as soon as possible. I am very eager to see what Commander Erwin will think of the whole situation and if they will actually manage to get some information from Reiner and Bertholdt. I am also waiting to see if they will reveal anything about the backstory of Reiner and Bertholdt with Ymir eating their friend in her Titan form.
And for the love of God. WHEN WILL LEVI START KICKING SOME ASS? His screening in this season so far is terrible! Come on guys, satisfy your audience a little bit!
Another epic battle in the forest
So the next episode will be all about the fight in the forest, if they actually manage to get a hold of them, which they will for sure and we will definitely see some intense fighting scenes! If we judge by the preview that creepy monkey is going to make an appearance as well, so be prepared for a lot of Titans guys! Cheers!
