I can see progress in this episode of As Miss Beelzebub Likes! To be honest, it is well needed, because this series will end soon. Only three more episodes and I am not sure I am ready to say goodbye to Mullin and the others. The story might not be the strongest, but it is very entertaining and I keep looking forward to the next episode every week. If not for an embarrassed Mullin then for the beautiful sweets that make me want to have some cake or for the other characters that seem to have a bit more progress than our main couple! At least in this episode…
Japanese Title: ふたり、ときどきすれ違い。/ 夢を見たから。(Futari, tokidoki surechigai./Yume wo mita kara.)
They say lovers’ quarrel; I say Mullin being stupid… Whatever it is, Mullin and Beelzebub have a fight. It’s a big one, since Mullin is trying to play mother hen and scares Beelzebub by saying he will leave her. His motive is that his mother would tell him the same when he didn’t behave as a kid, which is hilarious. Is that a Japanese thing? Telling your children you would go and become someone else’s mom? Or telling them you will give them away? I don’t know about other countries but my mom never told me things like that. I might have been terrified if she ever did.
This guy definitely starts to creep up my character ranking list! His advice for Mullin wasn’t bad and I like how badass he blackmails Sargatanas into buying new curtains for his office after finding out that she kept the flowers Astaroth gave her. The only thing I wonder about is how this cute tsundere is dealing with the women this guy walks around with, if she likes him. Wouldn’t that somehow make her really sad all the time? Even if she hit him afterward all the time, even if she is a tsundere… That must suck. I hope Astaroth is being nice to her, soon. I like the nice guy a lot more than the womanizer.
I can see some progress! Gocchin might be the one who has the most problems. Peeing yourself whenever you are nervous sucks, so I think she is admirable for still facing her anxiety and even attempting to confess her love to Azazel. My heart was warm for the whole time I got to watch the two of them. I really hope at least those two get to become a proper couple and we can see Gocchin at least once relaxed with Azazel. After getting used to having him around, of course.
I did not quite get this part of the story, where everybody fell asleep, but it was cute enough for me to consider it one of my highlights! The surprising heart-skip-a-beat-award goes to Astaroth, because for a second I really hoped he would do something with Sargatanas and was expecting so much. The comedic relief was still fun, but I was surprised to see myself getting so worked up over the two of them. I guess it’s because Sargatanas is so cute.
The personal-favorite-award goes to Azazel. He is so perfect. Getting a blanket, not thinking about how he wants to touch her but making it about her. He is so cute.
And of course the highlight of all the dreaming has to be Mullin and Beelzebub. At least this time he touched her, even if the hair didn’t really get fixed after he touched her? Still, he was cute. She was cute. They were cute. Please, kiss already.
This week as well, there was a lot of fanservice which once again confirms to me that at first I was only so fixed on the character introductions and hoping for a red thread through the story, that I might have not noticed what this anime is really about: Cuteness. Maybe a bit about pure love. Which is ironic enough, since the story is supposed to be about demons working in hell…? No matter how many episodes without story there are, I still want to watch every single one of them. Hoping for development in the relationships. Hoping to see more sweets. Hoping to get one more embarrassed-Mullin shot and Beelzebub pouting over something. At least the titles for next weeks episode sound as if Mullin (or one of the other guys) gets a chance to get closer to their loved ones. I have high hopes and can’t wait!
