Japanese Title: Kenja no Mago
Protagonist Shin was brought up by Merlin to master magic and gain control over his overwhelming strength. It is only when Shin turns 15 years that old Merlin realizes he made a huge mistake: he didn’t teach Shin anything about the rest of the world. Combining ‘super power’ with ‘no knowledge of the world’ is this fantasy adventure set in another world!
One of the first isekai series I watched was In Another World with my Smartphone. I really fell in love with that series and Wise Man’s Grandchild reminds me a lot of Smartphone, mixed together with Roku de Nashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records. This episode is a proper introduction of the main character and his background story and sets the whole mood for this series, which I think was a good idea! I immediately liked Shin and his grandparents, even though the episode did not go all out with humor or action. Still, I know I will keep watching this because of how much I liked the ending and the characters.
This is a no-brainer, but if you enjoy Isekai (other-world) stories, give this one a chance! If you liked the overpowered main character in Smartphone or the stupidity of the main character in Akashic Records… Well, then I think this one will be for you, too!
