Japanese Title: たくのみ。
Michiru Amatsuki in 20 years old and has come to Tokyo to find a job. She moves freshly into the capital and into a women-only shared house called ‘Stella House Haruno’. The people living there all work in different places and aren’t the same age, but as long as there are good alcohol and food, it’s fun! It’s a comedy with tipsy girls drinking at home.
I must admit that this anime was wasted on me. I haven’t drunk alcohol in years, and even when I did, it was not more than that casual concert beer or D&D night peer pressure. In Takunomi, however, alcohol is the undeniable protagonist, even more than Michiru Amatsuki, a backwater girl who moves to Tokyo after finding a job in sales. Being overly afraid of the metropolis, she finds a room in a shared house with 3 more girls: Kae Midorikawa, a busty wedding planner; Nao Kiriyama, a beer-lover who just loves to drink all day (even after the fair warning on the screens, it’s not ok to show someone drinking too much alcohol in the afternoon), and her little sister, Makoto, a serious office lady (or so I think) who saved Michiru’s bag from a station pickpocket.
Now, there are some things I did like about the show. The girls are cute and the writers waste no time pretending that this is something else than what it seems to be: a show that promotes certain alcohol brands and the food that goes with them. In other words, the creators want the viewers to go out in the real world and spend their very real money on the real food and drink they will see in the series. And they have created some really cute girls to make sure that they do.
Like one of the girls said in this episode:
‘I guess there is food to match any type of drink’
