Set in NEOTOKYO during G.C. 0051, RobiHachi follows the down-and-out life of Robby Yarge, a former freelance reporter turned full time bum after he loses his job, his girlfriend, and nearly his life in a traffic accident.
This is series is like methadone for recovering Gintama addicts. Not only do we have much of Gintama’s cast and staff on board for this original series, but the world itself shares many similarities. The first episode is a little bizarre, but there wasn’t much laughing aloud from me other than the odd one-liner or parody moment. The world isn’t particularly unique, and the main characters are not all that special, so I have mixed feelings. I think it’s important not to compare it to Gintama too much. If the show decides to go all out with some bizarre parodies, then I will definitely keep on watching. We don’t need time wasted on character development, we want the comedy! If the show can’t bring it, then it may be a bye bye from me.
