Konohanatei is an onsen lying in a town right between this world and another world. Fox spirits work there, disguised as girls, and we follow their daily lives.
A variation of a common genre, Konohana Kitan is just Cute Fox Girls Doing Cute Things for the duration of its 23-minute first episode. With not one but two different onsen scenes, fan service will play a huge role in the following episodes as well. The adventures of the little fox orphan, Yuzu, will be your typical slice-of-fantasy-life harmless fluff that you may be looking for. I got bored out of my mind watching a few fox ladies lamenting on the merits of work-life balance but the sweet and idyllic environment of the Konohanatei hotel is admittedly cute.
Since I am more of plot person, I am going to pass this series. I don’t think there’s more to this story than what we have already seen. Probably a guest of the week and a new moral lesson to be taught with a few scenes of fox fan service in between. I really enjoyed all the cute characters and the Japanese traditional architecture of the kimonos and the hotel and the sakura petals and the graphic rural village, but one episode of that is enough for me.
