Japanese Title: アイランド
Setsuna is a young man who is stranded on a remote island. The remote island is being teased by the mainland because of its discrepancies with old traditions and endemic diseases. Setsuna is going to unravel mysteries hidden in the world with the island’s popular family Urashima Oguinaya’s girls. It is a magnificent sci-fi story that became a hot topic because of its clever scenario and the numerous sub-plots.
I must admit that I have probably never played a visual novel and most certainly never played one to the end (I may have played some ‘visual novels’ if you know what I mean. Ah, and a bit of Higurashi). I am not a fan of the original visual novel and I had no idea what the plot was going to be as I started watching the first episode. Yet, after the finishing credits, it all made sense. The anime is an adaptation of a romance visual novel in which the player assumes the role of Setsuna Sanzenkai, a time-traveling amnesiac dude who finds himself washed out on a beach of Urashima island, a place full of young girls eager to dive into our MCs genitals in a reverse accidental boob-fall or try to kill him after he expresses his sympathy for small chests. Like a good mystery story (if this is any good, it remains to be seen) if offers hints along the way about the island’s inhabitants and the roles Setsuna and the girls of his ‘harem’ are going to play in this tale.
The mediocre voice acting and the terrible script will keep me away for the series but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a chance if you want to watch a sci-fi drama about time traveling that will have you guessing. At least, since it’s based on a visual novel, I expect the series to have a few twists and turns along the way.
