Episode 1 Review
Japanese Title: ゴブリンスレイヤー
We follow a goblin slayer on his quest of killing solely goblins and the people who get involved with him like a priestess, a young woman who is full of appreciation for the slayer, his childhood friend Cow Girl and more.
This is what happens when you take a simple premise and you couple it with some nice animation: an episode that is pure joy. I have to warn you, however, that Goblin Slayer is not for the faint of heart. There is some graphic violence in there. This is not your regular fantasy world. Closer to D&D, adventures die horribly, girls are raped by goblins, and adventurers kill indiscriminately. This is Goblin Slayer in a nutshell: an unnamed adventurer of the top rank is specialized in killing goblins. A newbie unnamed priestess whom we know simply as Priestess joins other newbies in their first quest where everything goes terribly wrong until Goblin Slayer arrives.
There is a nice contrast between the Slayer’s relentless hate against goblins and the innate kindness of the Priestess even after witnessing rape and murder. I am looking forward to the second episode.
