I don’t want to go into too much detail. I have been waiting for this series and even though I was severely worried at first, I am a 100% on board of this series after the first episode. Hardly any series manages to give me the dokidoki feelings just once in an episode. This episode managed to do just that three times – and I am not counting the tiny squealing moments I had pretty much throughout the whole episode. Everything is perfect to me. It is Fruits Basket in its essence, the characters and voices are spot on and did I mention the humor? Everything a shojo heart could want is in this story.
I recommend this series to everybody who likes a good romance story with more than just boy-meets-girl. To those who like supporting characters in a story as much as the main character. To those who like a bit of fantasy. And to those who remember the manga and loved it as much as I did.
There was no way I wouldn’t watch the remake of Fruits Basket. It has been one of the essential must-watch shoujo series for a very long time and now with its new visuals and design it can appeal to a new audience once more. It has beautiful animation, nice character design, and a story that would definitely make your heart beat!
Tohru Honda’s mother dies in a car crash and then lives with her grandfather, up until her unkind family members cause her to move out the house in order to temporarily renovate it. With nowhere else to go she starts living in a tent and gets a part-time job to support herself, but little does she know, that her tent is located next to the Soma’s family house, which is inhabited by her popular classmate Yuki and his cousin Shigure. After a series of unexpected events, Tohru starts living together with them in their house and finds out their deep secret and curse of turning into their zodiac animal when they are hugged by someone of the opposite sex.
If you want to experience some nice romance, humor, and a lot of handsome boys, Fruits Basket is the best choice for you this season!
