Japanese Title: 邪神ちゃんドロップキック
The devil of the underworld, Jashin-chan, had suddenly been summoned to the human world. Yurine Hanazono, who summoned Jashin-chan, is a university student with a slightly black heart. She is living in a rundown apartment in Jinbou district in Tokyo. Yurine summoned Jashin-chan without knowing how to return her to the underworld. It can’t be helped so they start to live together, but… If the summoner dies, the summoned creature can return, so Jashin-chan is aiming for Yurine’s life…!? Yurine and Jashin-chan’s dangerous cohabitation is quite a comedy!
Surreal. Odd. Bizarre. Peculiar. and Funny. I went into the episode without reading any summaries or seeing the trailer and I was expecting some CMonsterGDCT premise like Interviews with Monster Girls. I was so wrong. Dropkick on My Devil! is a collection of short sketches about a peculiar group of girls living together. Hanazono Yurine is a violence-loving sorcerer who dresses like a loli and summoned three devils (and an angel) to live with her. The Devils are a serpent-like creature called Jashin, an Egyptian Medusa, and a cow-looking devil called Minosu. The angel has been denied entry to Heaven because she lost her halo, but the rest of the Devils need to kill the sorcerer who summoned them to return to Hell. Well, Jashin is hell-bent on returning. Imagine that.
Each episode is a collage of Jashin-chan’s efforts to kill her master and the ways Yurine punishes her each time she fails. More than once, the characters broke the fourth wall and talked to the viewers and each sketch was colorful and horrific in its own unique way. I am certainly going to watch the second episode to see how Jashin-chan plans on getting rid of Yurine because it’s fun. Don’t expect a masterpiece or a CGDCT anime. This is a clear-cut comedy.
