Japanese Title: 抱かれたい男1位に脅されています | Dakaretai Otoko No.1 ni Odosareteimasu.
‘I’ll make it so your body can’t bear to be apart from me.’
Takato Saijo has been knocked off the spot top of the ‘most desired man’ ranking after 5 years. The one to replace him is a newbie actor with just 3 years’ experience- Junta Azumaya! Takato looks upon the naturally charming and ‘angelic’ Azumaya with feelings of hostility, but in a moment of weakness, the tables are completely turned…
I’ve been reading Boy’s Love manga for over a decade now, so I’ve pretty much read almost every genre of BL out there (there seems to be an omegaverse boom going on right now). Dakaichi is not particularly special in my opinion, but has become extremely popular in the past couple of years here in Japan. It even spawned an escape game that ran at Animates across the country! Despite my impressive fujoshi resume, I have yet to find a BL anime that I’ve actually enjoyed, and I’m not sure if Dakaichi will change my mind. The biggest changes in the anime so far are the fact that the pair do not have sex in the toilet (yes, that scene from really early in the episode!) and their next session took place in the apartment instead of at their workplace (naughty, naughty). I don’t personally think the changes themselves are not bad at all as this show airs on TV, making explicit sex scenes a big no-no. The story may seem a little bit rapey at first, but I hope you can understand that this is just a very popular trope in BL manga and supposed to be titalising for the viewers. The sexual tension in the series is okay I guess, but it’s just broken way too early to keep me coming back for more. I guess I will have to keep waiting for a BL anime adaptation that I will really enjoy, or I may just buy the drama CD for this one as I can’t get enough of Takato’s voice (tsundere ukes are my thing)
