Japanese Title: Fumikiri Jikan | 踏切時間
‘Ding ding ding ding….’ Today again, someone was stopped by a railroad crossing’s barrier. During the waiting time at railroad crossings unfold youth, eros, art, first love… A slice-of-life omnibus story taking place entirely at the railway crossings!
I have never waited on a railroad crossing. Yet, in train-loving Japan, it must be a familiar picture, and the setting allows just for three-minutes for the small act to play, exactly the time it takes for the train to pass and for the protagonistic duo of this short anime (which will be different, I guess, in every episode) to go on its merry way. If all episodes go according to the first, the two people waiting at the crossroad will indirectly address an issue of conversation that regularly (or not) happens between women. For example, the first episode has two female students talking about love, youth, and how women can fall in love with one another. I don’t think I am the intended audience for this anime, but I recommend it to all the girls out there who want a small slice-of-life conversation of contemporary female issues.
