Episode 1 Review
Japanese Title: ベルゼブブ嬢のお気に召すまま。
The great devil Beelzebub leads an army of some hundred thousand demons. When Murin gets to serve Beelzebub, he can’t believe his eyes when the person appears before him for the first time… A dignified devil lord with a cool head and impressive energy…was not what Beelzebub looks like? Instead, he meets a girl who loves soft and fluffy things?!
How fluffy and cute and pink can an anime get and still address a mature audience? As Miss Beelzebub Likes fits exactly that description. The titular character is the leader of Hell, but not as you might know think about it. Hell here is a sunny and quite metropolitan place whose castle and top officials remind of Renaiscance Europe and the town looks like your typical Japanese city. They all look like humans when in fact they are fallen angels who have been tasked by God to do administrative stuff the series doesn’t really care about. What it does care about is the romantic relationship between Beelzebub, the fearsome leader of Hell and Satan’s right hand, and Mullin, a demon who was tasked with the tedious job of being Beelzebub assistant. Beelzebub, being the top demon she is, has the appearance of a small girl but walks in red heels and keeps her huge cleavage to common view, something the series keeps on reminding us throughout the episode with naked scenes and close-ups. Mullin is clearly in love with her but his tsundere attitude keeps him from expressing his feelings.
All in all, As Miss Beelzebub Likes is your typical shounen comedy with some ecchi elements, just on a different setting. Expect a lot of small gags and titilizing scenes.
