Tsuki ga Kirei (as the moon, so beautiful) is an upcoming school romance anime due to air from 7 April 2017. On 25 March at AnimeJapan 2017, the main staff and cast came up on stage to talk about the anime.
‘Tsuki ga Kirei’ Synopsis
Kotaro and Akane end up in the same class in their 3rd year of middle school and meet for the first time. Different than their surroundings – parents, teacher, classmates, and friends – they follow their own path. Not giving in to changes and insecurities, then spring comes, the season of love.
Tsuki ga Kirei is an anime that will show the pure and innocent feelings of young love.
The talk event began with the guests appearing on stage and greeting the audience. The director and producer talked about how this work came to be. The director said that the sereis is a very normal middle-school romance story. Recently, there were many anime series that had lots of special features, such as fighting robots or stories happening in different worlds. He thought it would be good if among them there was an anime that reflects normal life and the human drama we all go through.
The casts members then briefly introduced their characters.
Chiba said of Kotaro that he is a quiet boy who likes to read. He is a very regular middle school boy, who has fun talking with his friends, even when it comes to talking about girls. Chiba said that when he played the character he tried to remember what he himself was like in middle school.
Kohara said of Akane that she is just a regular girl who is part of the track-and-field club. Although she is very energetic, she can also get very nervous at times, which leads her to carry around a stuffed character to relieve stress. Kohara also said that she looks at the pureness of Akane’s emotions and expressions. She said that Akane, and the other characters too, are quite refreshing.
Tamaru said of Takumi that he is the very handsome head of the track-and-field club. Despite this, he is still a very normal person and a little more mature than the others.
Murakawa said of Chinatsu that she also belongs to the track-and-field club and is one of Akane’s close friends. She very bubbly, and has a habit of wanting some of what other people have. For example, she may happily ask people for a bite of their ice cream without hesitation.
Next, we heard from Kohara that, when reading the script, she got the impression that the characters didn’t have the extremely strong personalities that we are used to seeing in anime. This means the anime should be able to conjure up feelings of the middle school days of all the audience.
The cast talked a little bit about the romance from their own middle school days. Kohara talked about how there were times where she would be really surprised when she found out certain people were dating. Some of the others said that there was little romance happening around them at school. It seems there are many different kinds of romance happening at different schools.
Then, they played a video message from Nao Toyama, who plays Miss Sonoda in the anime and also sings the opening theme. She talked about her thoughts on the anime and said that it seems so much like a live action drama, but the images are more beautiful than anything a live action could achieve.
The talk event finished with the cast and staff members thanking the audience and talking about the charms of the anime. By far the most common theme among the guests was that Tsuki ga Kirei will conjure up memories of middle school and first love for anyone who watches it.
We are looking forward to seeing how this pure young romance will turn out.
