The biggest anime, manga and Japanese pop culture fair in Kitakyushu, Kitakyushu Pop Culture Festival, was held in the West Japan General Exhibition Centre on November 5-6. On the second day of the event, there was a public recording of the radio program ‘Anichan♥FUKUOKA’ that is broadcast on CROSS FM. Asami Seto (Konatsu Tomodate), Marina Tanoue (Pocon), director Naoki Miyahara, and producer Yu Kanemaru appeared on the Pop in Q stage!
The sold-out event was hosted by vanilla and subaru of the programme ‘RuRuRaRa’! First, Asami politely greeted the audience with ‘Hello everybody! I’m Asami Seto, who plays Konatsu Tomodate’.
Right after Marina greeted the audience, Asami apologized because they were supposed to make the introduction in a Pop in Q way but she forgot! Marina took this chance to make amends: ‘Everyon~ne! Popi~n! I’m Marina Tanoue, who plays Pocon’.
The director introduced himself a little too formal, ‘I’m the director, Naoki Miyahara from Toei Animation’, making the audience laugh. Kanemaru-san decided that a Pop in Q introduction was more his style, ‘Everyo~~ne, popi~n!!’
It was evident that the cast were friends with each other, and that energy could be felt by the audience who kept on cheering the guests.
Then, they talked a little about their connections to Kyushu. Pocon’s voice actor, Marina Tanoue, lived in Fukuoka until high school. This was her first Fukuoka event and she celebrated it by showing off some of her Hakata dialect! She was greeted with a warm ‘Welcome back – okaeri’ from the audience, and with a broad smile she answered, ‘I’m home! – tadaima!’
Director Naomi Miyahara is from Tsushima in Nagasaki and producer Yu Kanemaru from Miyazaki. With so many of the staff being connected to Kyushu, the event felt more like a home-coming ceremony. Asami, though, confessed that she is from Saitama, and the audience laughed so loud.
I would love to share more about the show, but since it will be aired on the radio at a later date, I must keep my lips sealed. Copyright, you see.
What can I add… Ah! The guests were asked to describe Pop in Q in a few words and give their own movie summary. There were also a few new visuals and a Pop in Q raffle.
The event will be broadcast at 23:30 on Tuesday, November 29, on CROSS FM as a special edition of ’Anichan♥Fukuoka.’
