Miffy cafe, a collaborative cafe with Miffy has opened its doors in Osaka for a limited period of time.
I was invited to a private opening just one day before the official one, so get ready for a full report.
Miffy, a super adorable character loved by everyone!
Shinsaibashi 161 “THE GUEST cafe & diner” is a fancy shopping mall that has a wide variety of shops and collaborative cafes.
This time they have collaborated with Miffy, a super cute character that is very famous all around the world.
Miffy was born in Holland and has celebrated her 60th anniversary in 2015.
Japan, especially fond of the character, held many events to commemorate Miffy’s 60th birthday: a Miffy Gallery, limited time-only shops as well as promotional campaigns. On the day of the pre-opening event, Miffy herself was there and warmed up the place.
Miffy-themed Cute Menu
The Miffy cafe has a variety of tasty dishes that are, of course, Miffy themed!
They have a lot of tasty-looking dishes, so here are some that I think will become really popular!
What is a themed-cafe without its own special curry? Miffy’s tomato chicken curry with a mag cup (1,680 yen)
The curry looks really cute. It has a Miffy rise-doll chilling inside the curry, holding a carrot-made spoon.
The look of the curry is super adorable, and the curry itself is incredibly yummy.
The combination of tomato’s mild sourness and the chicken’s delicious taste is just awesome.
You can also have pickles as an extra topping.
The next one is Miffy’s hamburger, one of their most popular dishes. Miffy became a giant hamburger!? Chicken Schnitzel Burger (1,380 yen)
A hamburger plate with a schnitzel (a deep-fried chicken coated with bread crumbs) instead of a beef patty.
This giant Miffy hamburger has lettuce, a slice of tomato and the Schnitzel.
I recommend eating the French fries with Pinda sauce, a Holland-born special sauce.
The next dish is their super popular dessert, Dutch-style pancakes. Miffy-themed pancakes “Pannenkoeken” with a mag cup (1,680 yen)
Thinly-made Dutch style pancakes with a special chewy texture.
There is Miffy-shaped ice cream in the center of the plate and lot of cut fruits are placed around it.
It comes with sweet maple syrup.
If you eat these warm pancakes and the cold ice cream together, that’d be a heavenly moment!
The next one to introduce is another dessert made based on the mischievous Miffy. Miffy’s ghostly Chiffon cake!? (1,380 yen)
Take off the spooky Miffy lid and a smoke-clad Miffy-shaped cake is waiting for you inside.
I really like this playful gimmick!
Next is a Miffy cotton candy soda. Miffy’s fluffy cotton candy soda (880 yen)
This drink is made by pouring soda on top of a Miffy-shaped cotton candy.
It’s a freshening drink that makes you feel a pleasant orange sourness.
Miffy’s sophisticated world
Their menu was so amazing that I wanted to take photos of everything inside and share them in Social Media.
Miffy world is an elegant creation and there are some secrets behind its success.
First, its colors are beautiful and well-considered. Miffy’s theme colors are yellow, orange, green, blue, and every dish is made carefuly and includes at least two of those colors, if not all of them. The interior of the shop, the plates and the utensils are colored in the same way.
There are also a lot of Miffy plushies placed throughout the shop.
You can also get the placemats and coasters for free as a souvenir.
The coaster has four different variations. If you want to get them all, you’ll need to revisit a few times.
Another dessert from Holland , where Miffy was born.
On top of the Dutch style pancakes, you can also have a stroopwafel, a very famous Dutch desert. It comes with either coffee or tea.
You put the stroopwafel in your cup and wait until the syrup starts to melt.
Hot coffee/Hot tea Miffy-printed Stroopwafel (880 yen)
One of the most popular desserts for a tea break. Little syrup waffles that melt inside your tea or coffee.
Music is a vital part of most cafes. Miffy’s world is staying true to its Dutch origins and plays various Dutch folk songs.
You can also purchase rare Miffy-related goods at the nearby Miffy store.
The Miffy plushies are definitely the best-sellers.
I hope you liked my report!
This Miffy cafe will be open until September 11.
Since it’s a very popular cafe, it can get crowded during peak hours.
To avoid that, I recommend to visit from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on a weekday.
If you are taking a trip to Osaka, you should definitely visit the cafe!
