SaeKano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend Flat is based on a Japanese light novel by Fumiaki Maruto. Fans call it ‘SaeKano’ for short. The first novel was released in July 2012 with the series having released 12 books so far! Its popularity led to an anime adaptation in January 2015 and a sequel scheduled to start on 13 April 2017.
A lively display of human relationships
The event started with just a voice introducing the characters. The stage joined Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Tomoya Aki), Kiyono Yasuno (Megumi Kato), Saori Onishi (Eiri Spencer Sawamura) and Ai Kayano (Utaha Kasumigaoka)
During the talk segment, the guests shared personal stories and made the audience laugh. Kayano also asked the audience questions, getting them all excited. They revealed that they had just finished recording Episode 6, and explained a few of the key differences between Season 1 and 2. The new season will focus on the relationships between the girls. The special Episode 0 will air on Amazon Prime on 6 April 2017.
In the end, the artists of the opening and ending, Luna Haruna and Moso Calibration, came on stage and performed their songs. Last, everyone – including the musicians – told the audience a fond memory they had from the production.
The anime will include events that didn’t happen in the original SaeKano, so even fans of the light novels can look forward to new the content!
