MANGA.TOKYO has found out that the brand-new original anime Tsuki ga Kirei will begin airing this April in the Spring 2017 season. Above you can see the recently-revealed original illustrations of the anime’s four central characters: Kotaro Azumi, Akane Mizuno, Takumi Hira and Chinatsu Nishio. The character designer is loundraw, the prolific book illustrator best known for Kimi no Kanzo wo Tabetai (I want to eat your liver).
Tsuki ga Kirei is the latest work of Director Seiji Kishi who has so far worked on massively popular anime including Arpeggio of Blue Steel – Ars Nova, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero and Assassination Classroom.
Some amazing staff members were brought together for the anime’s production:
Screenwriter/Series composition: Yuko Kakihara (Digimon Adventure tri. series, Aikatsu Stars!)
Music: FlyingDog (Macross series, In a Corner of This World)
Animation Production: feel. (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!, This Art Club Has a Problem!)
Tsuki ga Kirei is a romantic, youthful story about junior high schoolers Akane and Kotaro who happen to be in the same class for the first time in their third year.
One of the anime’s highlights will be the characters’ personal development through the interactions between their classmates, club members, teachers, and parents. The anime’s first tagline is ‘Was that Dazai or Soseki who translated “I love you” that way…?’
The title, Tsuki ga Kirei, is widely known as a famous remark from Soseki Natsume, the famous Japanese novelist of famous novels such as Kokoro, Botchan, I Am a Cat and his unfinished work Light and Darkness.
We have less than 3 months left until the anime’s broadcast. Although there hasn’t been much information revealed at the moment, we’ll stay on the lookout for further updates. As soon as we know about the voice cast, theme songs and what kind of imagery expressions will be featured to depict the sensitive love romance, you’ll be the first to know! Please stay tuned on MANGA.TOKYO.
