TBS has announced that they’ll produce a new TV anime series based on the famous line of Transformers-like miniature mecha toys from Takara Tomy. The anime will be called Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head Kidō Kyūkyū Keisatsu (Mobile Emergency Police) and it will air on Spring 2017 (April).
The story will follow the mobile emergency police Hyper Rescue, an organization whose purpose is to protect human life. The special unit uses transforming vehicles called Drive Heads that are specialized for police, fire-fighting, and rescue missions.
Tamara Tomy is the result of the merge between two very famous Japanese toy companies. Tomy’s signature product was a line of small die-cast miniature cars similar to Hot Wheels. Takara is the company from which Hasbro created the Transformers franchise.
