The production of the anime adaptation of Iqura Sugimoto’s Nanamaru Sanbatsu was announced on December 19. To celebrate the news, Sugimoto made a few comments and released some unique illustrations.
Nanamaru Sanbatsu is serialized in Young Ace (KADOKAWA). It’s about a school club whose members gamble on competitive quizzes. The title will be turned into a multimedia project.
With the announcement of TV anime, the production company has opened an official website. The site is looking for original quiz questions, and some of these will be used in the anime and future events!
Iqura Sugimoto’s comment
‘Thank you very much to all the readers and everyone involved. I was pleased that we are able to report about the TV anime. Nanamaru Sanbatsu is an unusual subject in that it is about competitive quizzes. I doubt there are many works which depict quizzes with this kind of fighting spirit. It has been 6 years since I began serializing. I have not seen any works of a similar genre from later generations yet, even if I wanted to read it elsewhere. So I will continue to draw this work which may well be the only one of this genre. I would really like to like to thank the challenging spirit and tolerance of the production companies and broadcast stations, who have volunteered to get this anime running. Inevitably, this will be an unprecedented quiz animation. Adapting this special game won’t be easy … Please look forward to future news!’
