Thanasis is a writer, professional geek, and assistant editor at MANGA.TOKYO. He started watching anime with the mecha shows of the 70s and hasn't stopped since. He loves JRPGs.
The first time Kohei Horikoshi, author of the popular My Hero Academia, appeared in public was for a TV interview last January. He wore a mask through the whole interview.
His mask days are seemingly over though since the official site for Jump Festa 2017 announced that the famous mangaka is going to make his first public appearance at the event. The 29-year-old author will appear on a stage event for the franchise, and he will be joined by two seiyuu from the anime adaptation, Daiki Yamashita (Izuku Midoriya) and Nobuhiko Okamoto (Katauki Bakugo).
The author commented on his no-mask appearance: ‘I always thought that as a mangaka I don’t need to appear before people. But many great people advised me that I should. I will try not to be a bother to the voice actors.’
Jump Festa is a two-day event that features all our favorite titles from Shueisha’s publications: Weekly Shonen Jump, Shonen Jump+, V Jump, Jump Square, and Saikyo Jump. It will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture on December 17-18, 2016.
