Moyoco Anno is a popular manga artist, a fashion writer, and the wife of famed anime director Hideaki Anno. An exhibition based on her manga Ochibi-san titled ‘Ochibi-san Café Gallery at Sasayuri Café’ will be held at Sasayuri Café in Nishi-Ogikubo from 2 March to 3 April 2017.
Ochibi-san is a full-color one-page manga and is currently being serialised in AERA (Asahi Shimbun Publishing). The story features the cheerful and energetic Ochibi-san living her daily life with her friends in a small town in Kamakura. The four seasons are beautifully drawn with soft touches using warm colors. It was adapted into a stop motion anime in 2015 for Dwango, Co. and khara, Inc’s Japan Anima(tor)’s Exhibition.
At the gallery exhibition, Moyoco Anno’s anime will be shown and various works including not only the original illustrations but also the stencil designs will be displayed. This exhibition will show how Ochibi-san was born.
Also, a collaborative promotion will run at Sasayuri Café during the Ochibi-san Gallery Exhibition. An Ochibi-san pin badge will be given to those who order from the menu. More official goods including stationery and general goods will also be available to purchase.
