Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni was released on November 12 and has so far attracted over 100,000 movie-goers and has gained a box-office revenue of 160 million yen.
During its second weekend it brought in a box-office revenue of 56.79 million yen from 39,638 movie-goers. The viewers increased 24% increase compared to the first week. It has again ranked 1oth in the second week.
The first week’s male to female ratio was 8:2 and the majority of them were in their thirties and fourties.
However, the second week’s ratio was mostly even, and the movie attracted a wider range of visitors such as families and students. The movie theater Teatoru Shinjuku’s weekly box-office revenue broke a 10-year long record. The original comic’s circulation has also risen to over 600,000 copies.
Following the first greeting event at Teatoru Shinjuku back on November 14, director Sunao Katabuchi has been appearing in movie theaters across the nation for more greeting events. He is scheduled to make on-stage appearances in Osaka, Miyagi, Shiga, Kyoto, and other cities.
