Manga.Tokyo brought you Kimi no Na wa‘s new visual to commemorate its great success. This incredibly beautiful and dreamy picture has been created by director Makoto Shinkai, character designer Masayoshi Tanaka and art director Takumi Tanji.
The visual features the unforgettable scene near the end of the movie where the protagonist Taki and the heroine Mitsuha meet for the first time. Taki and Mitsuha face each other on top of the mountain the day the comet makes its closest approach to Earth. Below them we can see Itomori lake.
The visual circulated in several morning newspapers issued on October 14 as a commemorative ad.
The newspaper companies that featured this visual were:
Asahi Shinbun (Tokyo, Osaka), Yomiuri Shinbun (Osaka), Chunichi Shinbun (Aichi), Shinnihon Shinbun (Fukuoka) and Hokkaido Shinbun (Hokkaido)
In early December, the visual will also be put up in the movie theaters throughout Japan.
The director Shinkai made a comment on the visual, ‘A struggle to deliver wishes and feelings to another person: That’s the very core of the movie. I have expressed such a moment in this illustration. I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart that Kimi no Na wa has been spreading to a lot of people.’
