‘Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch – Kiseki no Anniversary’, the 10th anniversary commemorating event of Code Geass was held at Maihama Amphi Theater in Chiba on November 27. Comic Natalie offers a report on the event.
Did you know: Code Geass has a third season confirmed!
Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch Lamperouge), Takahiro Sakurai (Suzaku Kururugi), Yukana (C.C.), Ami Koshimizu (Kallen Kozuki) and Ken Narita (Jeremiah Gottwald) joined the event. The event started with a live performance of Yukyouseishunka, the ending theme by ALI PROJECT. Then Narita, the host of the show, got on the stage. He asked the audience to say Jeremiah’s familiar phrase, Ohayogozaimashita, and he explained the secret hidden in the invitation letter that hinted the next season of the anime.
The post recording segment was next. The cast performed the post recording on the scenes from Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch and Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch R2. Half-way through the event, there was a live performance of Hitomi’s background music, Innocent Days. When Fukuyama finally appeared on the stage, the audience gave him a big applause.
After the live post recording of Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch and Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch R2, the event screened a new picture drama featuring the student council members. After the screening was finished, the cast got back on the stage and the audience shouted ‘All Hail Lelouch!’ making Fukuyama laugh shyly. At the talk corner, they talked about how they feel about the anime’s 10th anniversary and about today’s post recording. Also, when the secret words hidden in the invitation letter were revealed to be the ‘Resurrection of the Warlock’, Fukuyama commented, ‘Until now you have been a devil. Come, Lelouch!’. Finally, Sakurai said, ‘remembering all these years makes me dizzy. There were so many things in this anime’, and Fukuyama followed saying, ‘I am one of them who got affected by this anime. I will love this anime for another 10 years.’
Everyone thought the event had ended when the guests left the stage, but then, Zero suddenly appeared! He said, ‘Listen up those of you who have waited for 10 years for the resurrection of the warlock!’ and then a special movie was screened. The movie started with the words ’10 years after the Zero Requiem…’ and it showed scenes which featured Suzaku being involved in a battle and Lelouch’s left eye with Geass activated. When they announced the start of the next project, Code Geass Fukkatsu no Lelouch, the audience went crazy.
After that, Taniguchi Goro (director) and Ichiro Ookawauchi (series composition) appeared on the stage. They announced again the start of the three part movie, Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch, which will be a summary of the highlights of the first 50 episodes and some from Code Geass Fukkatsu no Lelouch. Also, Taniguchi said that, ‘Code Geass moves on to the next stage. Before looking ahead for another 10 years, let’s first redo the Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch!’ They didn’t explain whether Code Geass Fukkatsu no Lelouch would be a TV anime or a movie, but they told the audience that ‘the leading character would be Lelouch and we won’t say if he was a fake or lived in parallel world. The stage would be 2 years after [R2]. You can consider it a sequel.’
At the end of the event, the live performance of Hitomi no Tsubasa was held by a surprise guest, Access. The cast members got back on stage to share their passion towards the new movie. Finally, Fukuyama concluded the event with the phrase, ‘Lelouch vi Britannia hereby orders you. Stay aware until the next time we meet!’
