Classic Sci-fi action-hero TV anime Hurricane Polimar will be adapted into a movie. The site is already live and Tatsunoko Productions has the film set for release in Japan in May 2017 as part of its 55th anniversary titles.
The film will be directed by Koichi Sakamoto, episode director in the Kamen Rider and Ultraman franchises, and the screenplay will provide Shinsuke Onishi, also a veteran in the Ultra Series. Junpei Mizobata will play criminal investigator Takeshi Yoroi, the protagonist of the series who can transform himself into Hurricane Polimar. The film will be distributed by Kadokawa.
The original TV anime aired in Japan for 26 episodes, from October 1974 to March 1975, and was remade into an OVA in 1996 and 1997.
