TV anime Himouto! Umaru-chan announced its second season along with info on the staff! Continuing from the first season is director Masahiko Ohta, series compositor Takashi Aoshima, and character designer Aya Takano. The animation will be produced by Doga Kobo. The anime is aiming for a Fall 2017 broadcast.
To celebrate the upcoming second season, the production posted a short teaser video and a teaser illustration on the official website. The visuals show Umaru with a wide smile, and the teaser video is quite comical. Sankaku Head also drew an illustration to celebrate the confirmation of the second season.
Himouto! Umaru-chan is based on a manga with the same title by Sankaku Head, currently being published in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump. It tells the everyday life of Umaru Doma, a seemingly great student, and hard-working girl on the outside who as soon as she is home becomes her real lazy self. She lives with her older brother, Taihei.
So far, 9 volumes of the manga have been published with over 2.9 million copies sold. The first season of the anime adaptation was 12 episodes long and aired during the Summer 2015 season. The unique artwork and the characters contributed to the popularity of the series.
