Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution Teaser Visual (c)2017 BONES／Project EUREKA MOVIE
News is spreading that Eureka Seven will get a movie trilogy and the first part to be produced will be called Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution.
Hi-Evolution will take place at the time of the ‘First Summer of Love’, 10 years before the story of the TV series. We don’t have any more details so far, but it seems that the movies will show how it all started. The first movie is scheduled to come out in 2017, the second in 2018, and the third in 2019.
Coming together again are part of the previous Eureka Seven team, including general director Tomoki Kyoda, screenwriter Dai Sato, and character designer Ken’ichi Yoshida. The music will be provided by the German unit Hardfloor. There are many things named after techno songs or synthesizers in Eureka Seven, and the episodes of the anime were titled after real songs. Some episodes of the anime were titled after the Acperience songs by Hardfloor, who have also named their new song Acperience 7.
Eureka Seven is a sci-fi anime that originally aired between 2005 and 2006. In 2009, the movie Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers, which takes place in a parallel world, was released, and the sequel Eureka Seven AO was released in 2012. The story was also turned into a manga by Jinsei Kataoke and Kazuma Kondou (both known for Deadman Wonderland) and was serialized in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shonen Ace in 2005-2007.
Director Tomoki Kyoda comment
‘During the production I have thought many times: “This work receives a lot of love.” To honor that love, it would be great it I could make something that is loved by everybody once again, eliminating as many lies as possible.’
Screenwriter Dai Sato comment
‘To us, Eureka Seven isn’t something nostalgic. And that is why we won’t betray those who were influenced by Eureka Seven before. We want to create something fresh and new for those who don’t know it yet, as well.’
Character Designer Kenichi Yoshida comment
‘At the time of Eureka Seven I wanted to produce something to challenge the world. I planned to widen the possibilities of the characters. This time, since 10 years have passed, I think the world needs to see the new patterns I created through Eureka Seven again.’
‘We were asked in many interviews to leave a message for the fans, but we never gave any comments about our music or tried to send out a deep message with our compositions. We think our music will express everything itself, and the audience can freely interpret the feelings, stories and images it carries. While creating Acperience 7, we just wanted to produce a good song that fits us. We didn’t want to produce a song that fits the movie but isn’t like Hardfloor, since it seems we were asked to produce something because our sound is something the director wanted.’
