Chihayafuru×Sogo-Seibu’s pop-up shop is going to start at Ikebukuro, Otsu, Fukui, and Yokohama from April 29th!
Original goods for sale and key frame displays
Recently, it has been popular to visit the location of scenes in manga or anime, and the push of the cities for regional activation is making the growth of comic culture unstoppable.
Sogo-Seibu has announced that they will collaborate with” Chihayafuru”, a popular manga based on competitive Karuta (Japanese playing cards), which is now hot of releasing 2 movies in March and April, 2 months in a row.
The cities which are the stage of this story; Tokyo (Seibu Ikebukuro main store), Otsu (Seibu Otsu store), Fukui (Seibu Fukui store) will open a pop-up shop, selling Sogo-Seibu’s limited original goods created with the cooperation of the store staffs, having unique features of each region. In addition, key frames and location shot exhibits will be held and copied key frames will be on sale for the first time, produced on order, as it shows that this event is not only worth seeing for fans, but also for people who wouldn’t otherwise, too. We will redesign Japanese traditional sweets and goods to modern style, and spread it to local shops to the center cities, then to the whole country!

5 colored deep fried rice cakes assortment, flavored with special products of each area, imaged and selected from the characters in the story. The limited package using a cover of the comic is a must-see.

(2) Japanese goods~Tenugui” Nijiyura” ~
Tenugui, is like a towel, used during a karuta game to wipe sweat. We made this Tenugui by collaborating with “Nijiyura”, using a traditional staining technique called “Chusen”. It varies in pattern such as the cover of comics, design of the characters, and has full view of the world from the story. We will sell Jinbei for kids, book covers, and tissue cases using the same cloth.
