CLAMP’s Cardcaptor Sakura is getting a brand new anime series to be broadcast on NHK on January, 2018.
Cardcaptor Sakura is a fantasy comic that was serialized in Nakayoshi (Kodansha) from 1996 until 2000. The story features the efforts of 4th grader Sakura Kinomoto to collect cards that are said to bring disasters to the world if released. It was adapted into an anime that aired on NHK in 1998 and it was also adapted into a movie.
The new anime will adapt the Clear Card Arc of Cardcaptor Sakura that has been serializing in Nakayoshi since last June. Sakura is now in her first year in middle school and meets with Syaoran again. After seeing a mysterious dream, the cards turn transparent, indicating the beginning of yet another adventure. The first volume will be published on December 2.
The original cast will be reprising their roles: Sakura Tange as Sakura Kinomoto, Aya Hisakawa as Kerberos, Junko Iwao as Tomoyo Daidoji, Motoko Kumai as Syaoran Li, Megumi Ogata as Yukito Tsukishiro, and Tomokau Seki as Touya Kinomoto. Asaka Morio will be directing. MADHOUSE will be responsible for the animation production.
