Aho Girl (lit. Idiot Girl) will be adapted into an anime for the Summer 2017 season with 12 episodes in total. The manga which is currently serialized in Besshi Magazine. The original writer of the comic is Hiroyuki, who has produced Dojin Work, Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to, and others. Aho Girl is his latest work and its 8 volumes so far have a total circulation of 1 million!
Keizo Kusakawa, the general director of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’s and Fuuka, will be the general director for this series. Shingo Tamaki, an assistant director for the movie Kantai Collection –KanColle-, is taking the director’s role. Takashi Aoshima of Yuruyuri and Gabriel Dropout is doing the series composition and Masakazu Ishikawa known for his works Shinryaku! Ikamusume and Binan Kouko Chikyu Boei-bu LOVE! is handling the character design. Diomedia will be producing the animation. Diomedia produced many works last year including Mayoiga as well as the currently-airing Fuuka.
The main character of this story, Yoshiko Hanabatake, likes Akkun, her childhood friend, whose staple food is bananas. She is a high school girl who does all sorts of foolish things. Many unique characters like Sayaka Sumino, who is a plain girl troubled by Yoshiko, the chief of the disciplinary committee, and Yoshiko’s rival in love.
