A limited number of the new ukiyo-e woodcut of Fujiko. F. Fujio’s Doraemon is going to be sold on online shopping site Doraemon’s Bell. The price will be 39,960 yen.
The motif of Part 3 of the Doraemon ukiyo-e project will be ‘Fugaku Sanjuu Rokkei: Kanagawa Okinamiura (Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: The Great Wave Of Kanagawa)’ which is the most famous work by Hokusai Katsushika. The scene of Doraemon, Nobita, and his friends sailing the choppy sea will be illustrated by real ukiyo-e artists who have inherited the skills from the Edo Period. You can enjoy the smooth texture of the best-quality washi (Japanese paper) and the vivid colors of ink which has been overprinted 28 times.
Doraemon’s Bell is currently accepting orders and will start shipping the woodcuts from early March, 2017.
