The monthly anime information magazine ‘Newtype’ will feature a big ‘Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress’ special in its July issue to be sold from June 10th.
The cover is drawn by Haruhiko Mikimoto, who worked on ‘Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket’ and ‘The Super Dimension Fortress Macross’ and is also responsible for the original character ‘Mumei’.
It will feature an interview with director Tetsurō Araki and a talk with the voice actors of Ikoma (Tasuku Hatanaka) and Takumi (Yūki Kaji) about their character’s friendship. An interview with Mumei’s voice actress Sayaka Senbongi and Mamoru Miyano, the voice actor of Biba, make the special complete on 14 pages.
A special part of the feature is the collaboration of Rina Ikoma from the Japanese idol group Nogizaka46, who shares the same name as this story’s hero. She will impersonate Ikoma on two full pages.
If you want to see her in Ikoma’s costume, which was especially created for this special, and how close she comes to the original, please check out the July issue of ‘Newtype’.
